Private hospitals want to shut down covid hospital

Aurangabad, June 8:

After the outbreak of coronavirus last year, the administration compelled private hospitals to start covid centers. Corona patients were being treated at more than 90 private hospitals in the city for the past one and a half years. As soon as the corona wave subdued, private hospitals have now applied to the municipal corporation for permission to close the corona center. The municipal administration has not yet taken any decision.

The government hospitals were full in the first and second wave of Covid-19. Due to shortage of beds, the district administration directed private hospitals to start covid centers. Private hospitals were allowed to start covid centers through the municipal health department. Patients from Marathwada and other districts were coming in large numbers for treatment in government and private hospitals. However the corona wave has been receding rapidly for the past one month. There are no patients in private hospitals. As it is impossible to treat patients with other ailments, nine private hospitals have submitted applications to the municipal health department for permission to close the covid center. However, the corporation administration has not yet taken any decision. Sources in the health department said that it is unknown at this time whether the third wave will come. Beds will not be available if the situation worsens. Therefore, the hospitals have been asked to wait for a few more days.
