Aurangabad, July 9:

A psycho-patient undergoing treatment at MGM Hospital has committed suicide by hanging himself with a scarf to the exhaust fan in lavoratory today at 8.30 am. Cidco police station has registered an offence of accidental death.

The deceased have been identified as Rameshwar Himmatrao Kakade (52, Borgaon in Buldhana district). According to details, Rameshwar was mentally ill for the past many days. His relatives admitted him to MGM Hospital for treatment on July 5 (at 12 noon). The hospital's psychiatric department was treating him. He was accompanied by a relative in the hospital. Today morning, Rameshwar had his tea which was brought by his relative, and after some time, he went to the toilet. He did not lock the door from inside. He was having a large size kerchief around his neck. He used it to hang himself with the exhaust fan and ended his life. The incident came to light when another patient was trying to enter the toilet. Hearing his screams, the doctor, nurse, and other health staff rushed towards the toilet. They untied the scarf around the neck of Rameshwar and rushed him to the casualty ward, but the doctors declared him dead on examination. Acting upon the information, PSI Pratibha Abooj with her team reached the hospital and performed the panchanama. Head constable Pathan is investigating the case.
