Aurangabad, July 8:

After 11 days, heavy rains lashed the city on Thursday giving a relief to the citizens from soaring temperatures and humidity. However, the presence of rain created a pleasant atmosphere.

The city was hit by heavy rains on June 27. But then the rain turned its back. The city witnessed heavy cloud cover in the sky after 4 pm on Thursday and it started raining around 5.15 pm. Initially, it rained lightly, but soon the intensity increased. It rained for half an hour in most parts of the city including Cidco, Hudco, Akashwani, Mill corner and university campus. After a heavy downpour the intensity subdued. It was raining moderately till 7 pm. The MGM observatory recorded 14 mm rainfall till 6.30 pm, informed meteorologist Srinivas Aundhkar.
