Residents complained of facing health threat due to supply of sewage mix water in taps
Aurangabad, Nov 7:
The residents of Sambhaji Colony (in Cidco N-6 sector) complained of receiving water mixed with sewage in their taps for the past many days. They urged the civic authorities to save their lives from health threats on priority (before Diwali festival) or else they would launch an agitation to press their demand.
According to residents, the water pipeline and the drainage pipeline are parallel to each other in the underground. The drainage pipeline in their locality is getting choked up frequently. As a result, the drainage waste is entering into the water pipeline, and hence they are receiving contaminated water. They also mentioned that they had informed the ward officer and the water supply engineer in this regard, but no concrete steps were taken to prevent them from danger.
The residents demanded to replace the damaged drainage line, remove old water connections from the pipeline near the drainage line and construct new chambers for smooth flow of drainage waste. The residents of Sambhaji Colony also informed that the delay in repair of the drainage pipeline is burdening them financially as they are forced to buy a jar or bottled water to protect their health (as it is filtered water).
When contacted the ward officer, it came to notice that nothing has proceeded further beyond site inspection. Earlier, the residents of Mathuranagar agitated when they received contaminated water in their taps. They had also demanded to waive off their one-year water tax.
A social activist Manish Narwade and others from the area threatened to launch an agitation if the drainage line is not repaired and the water problem is not solved on priority as the festival is around the corner.
