The proposed six-lane greenfield highway connecting Shendra DMIC to Bidkin and further to Dhoregaon has gained momentum, with the state granting in-principle approval of Rs 745 crore for land acquisition. District Collector Vinay Gowda GC confirmed on Friday at the Collector’s office that the land acquisition process for the 70.60-km stretch will commence soon.

The project will be executed in two phases to boost industrial expansion near the city. Phase I includes a 35.80-km six-lane road from Shendra DMIC to Bidkin. Phase II will cover a 34.80-km stretch from Bidkin MIDC to Dhoregaon on the Pune–Nagar route. Substantial land acquisition will be required on both sides of the corridor. Of the total Rs 745 crore allocation, Rs 315 crore has been earmarked for Phase I and Rs 430 crore for Phase II. The state had earlier approved the funding through an ordinance, and the allocation has now been formally included in the state budget, clearing the way for implementation. The project will be financed with assistance from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and the New Development Bank. Efforts are also underway to hand over its execution to MSIDC. Once completed, the greenfield corridor is expected to provide faster connectivity to the Shendra- Bidkin industrial belt, strengthening logistics, attracting investment and accelerating regional industrial growth. With alignment approvals in place, focus now shifts to land acquisition, compensation and on-ground execution.
