Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: For the past five months, certain corporators of the city have been deliberately reigniting the Sambhajinagar-Aurangabad naming controversy in Standing Committee and General Body meetings solely to generate viral reels for free publicity.

During Monday's Standing Committee meeting, convened to discuss property tax and water tax collection, an MIM corporator referred to the city as "Aurangabad," prompting sharp objections from the BJP.

The exchange quickly escalated into a public verbal spat, with the BJP questioning whether MIM still refuses to accept the name Sambhajinagar, while MIM argued the High Court Bench retains the Aurangabad name.

Notably, once the reel was filmed, both sides immediately calmed down, strongly suggesting the confrontation was staged.

There is widespread criticism on social media about this. Despite the public backlash, corporators showed no signs of changing their ways. The meeting ended at 4:30 PM. Within an hour, the orchestrated argument was already viral online.
