Second Corona wave may hit district after November 18

Aurangabad, Nov 8:

The district health machinery has heaved a sigh of relief almost after seven months as the Corona patients are reducing now. However, there is a possibility that the district may hit by the second wave of the Corona pandemic after November 18. Hence, the health machinery has become alert now.

The Corona pandemic grappled the district since March. In the past seven months, the total number of patients in the district has gone over 41,000, of which, 39,000 recovered while around 700 are being treated presently. As the pandemic is receding now, there is a fear of the eruption of the pandemic again. The increased cold atmosphere, pollution due to Diwali, the increased crowd in the public places and ignorance of the people towards the safety measures can be favourable for the outburst of the pandemic again.

The antibodies developed in the patients can sustain for three to seven months. Similarly, the non-symptomatic or with fewer symptoms patients have developed lesser antibodies. Hence, the patients who have already infected earlier can also be infected again in the second Corona wave.

The possibility of the Corona second wave is predicted after November 18. Similarly, the vaccine will take some more time. However, there is adequate preparation in the district to tackle the pandemic. Besides, there have been directives that the employees appointed during Corona crisis should not be removed, said district civil surgeon, Dr Sundar Kulkarni.
