Sector-wise schedule for waste collection in Waluj industrial area

Sector-wise schedule would be given to entrepreneurs in Waluj for depositing the waste to lower the increasing garbage crisis in the Waluj Industrial area. This was decided in a joint meeting held by the Marathwada Association of Small Scale Industries and Agriculture (MASSIA), MIDC and Mahindra and Mahindra, here on Thursday.

The meeting was regarding solid waste management in the industrial area. The entrepreneurs in the Waluj industrial area have been raising the waste management issue since long. Nullahs chocked due to dumping of garbage had led to recent flooding in several industries. Accordingly, the members raised questions regarding dumping of waste in open plots, and at the truck terminal, lack of garbage collection points increased dumping of hazardous waste and chocked nullahs.

The Mahindra and Mahindra company, which has been appointed for solid waste management in the industrial area, assured the entrepreneurs that the company will fix a sector wise schedule for waste collection, increase the number of waste collecting vehicles, and also improve the garbage collection method. Also, the waste in the vicinity of the truck terminal will be disposed of after the renovation of the site.

They also assured that the company would create awareness among the entrepreneurs about waste management. Massia vice president Narayan Pawar, secretary Rahul Mogle, treasurer Vikas Patil, M&M company plant head S Sundar Babu, project head Shailesh Chandekar and MIDC officials were present.
