The city crime branch has arrested a youth who was selling costly drugs like MD (mephedrone) at high-profile parties while working at a mobile shop, along with the addict who engaged him in the racket. The accused have been identified as Shaikh Aftab (19, Bhoi Wada) and Shaikh Irfan (Abrar Colony, Beed Bypass).
Acting on instructions from police commissioner Pravin Pawar and deputy commissioner Ratnakar Nawale to crack down firmly on drug trafficking networks, the crime branch has intensified action over the past 10 days against traffickers, users, and their associates. During the investigation, assistant police commissioner Ravikant Gachhe received information that Aftab would be arriving near the wall behind City Club, close to Amkhas Maidan, to sell mephedrone-like drug powder. A trap was laid on Friday night, and Aftab was apprehended. Police seized 20 grams of mephedrone and an expensive mobile phone from him.
