A series of thefts in the Waluj MIDC industrial area has created panic among industrialists, with three cases registered within just three days, raising serious concerns over security arrangements. In the latest incident, a daring robbery took place early Tuesday morning at Automent Industries Coating Company in D-Sector of the Ranjangaon Shenpunji area.

Four unidentified thieves entered the premises, assaulted the security guard, tied his hands and legs, and fled with goods worth Rs 4.90 lakh. Based on a complaint filed by industrialist Sanjay Manikrao Kulkarni (57, resident of Jyotinagar, Osmanpura), a case has been registered at MIDC Waluj police station.

According to police, the incident occurred between 3 am and 3.45 am. The accused arrived on a two-wheeler. Three of them overpowered the guard, while the others entered the premises by scaling the compound wall and stole valuable materials.

The stolen items include around 22,000 copper pieces worth Rs 2.45 lakh, 25 kg of terminals worth Rs 2 lakh, and 30 kg of yoke bridge material worth Rs 45,000. The entire act was captured on CCTV, and police suspect it was a pre-planned crime. The investigation is being carried out by Police sub-inspector Pravin Patharkar.

Meanwhile, with three theft cases reported in three days, industrialists have expressed concern over safety. A delegation led by MASSIA president Gajanan Deshmukh met Police inspector Rameshwar Gadhe, demanding increased patrolling and permanent measures to curb such incidents. Vice-president Rahul Mogale, Anil Pawar, and several other industrialists were also present.
