A massive fire broke out at Tirupati Enterprises, a plastic granule manufacturing unit in Sector D, Shendra MIDC (Plot No. 162, Gokulwadi), around 6 am on Wednesday, reportedly due to a short circuit in a nearby transformer.

As already reported by Lokmat Times that the fire safety standards is not up to the point in the Shendra Midc most of the companies didnt have any kind of the fire saffety audit but still runnoing and most also doinfg running the business without firew noc. The fire rapidly spread after igniting large stocks of raw material (lamination and LD material) stored outside the shed. Thick smoke was visible from 15–20 km away. No casualties were reported, but raw materials worth crores were destroyed. MIDC fire brigade deployed 5–6 tenders, supported by 8–10 water tankers from nearby villages. After nearly six hours of effort, the fire was brought under control, with cooling operations continuing later. Police led by PI Pratap Navghare evacuated nearby residents and controlled crowds. Locals alleged lack of fire safety systems and raised concerns over transformers and overhead lines near the unit. Questions have also been raised on permissions for such units in residential pockets like Gokulwadi. “Shendra MIDC’s safety standards must be reviewed and accountability fixed,” said Panchayat Samiti member Vitthal Korde.
