Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar
The Shivajinagar underpass, which connects Satara, Deolai and the Beed Bypass to the city, has become a major headache for commuters. Heavy vehicles frequently get stuck, leading to severe traffic congestion. Citizens and local corporators have stated that constructing a railway flyover at the site is the only permanent solution. They have assured that follow-up efforts will be made to push the proposal.

Underpass review planned
We held a joint departmental meeting to explore better utilisation of the existing underpass. Another review meeting will be convened after the civic budget session to push for a lasting solution.
- Govind Kendre, House Leader

Flyover is only remedy
I conducted a joint inspection with the mayor and officials, suggesting barricade bars, signals at Deolai Chowk and side roads along the underpass. Despite repeated correspondence, no action followed. A flyover remains the only effective solution.
- Raju Vaidya, Corporator
-----
Coordinated action for public relief
Though the corporation is not directly responsible, we coordinated with PWD, Railways, Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran and Mahavitaran to minimise public inconvenience. I inspected the site thrice and directed the concerned agencies to complete the pending works without delay.
- Sameer Rajurkar, Mayor

Finish 90% work to resolve issue
A flyover is technically not feasible, hence the underpass was built. Extending protective sheets, improving drainage and installing traffic signals can reduce congestion. If 90% of pending works by PWD and Railways are completed, the issue can largely be resolved.
- Rajendra Janjal, Deputy Mayor

Flyover not technically feasible
A railway overbridge at Shivajinagar was not feasible due to insufficient length, so an underpass was built. I have directed the municipal corporation, PWD and railway authorities to resolve the issue jointly. Repairs will cost Rs 10–12 lakh; if needed, I will fund it to ensure completion.
