Shopping in full swing for Christmas decorations and gifts
Aurangabad, Dec 17: Christmas is just a few days away and the markets in the city have geared up to welcome customers. Shopping is especially preferred for the Christmas crib.
Christmas is going to be celebrated all over the world. Preparations have also started in the city. The markets are adorned with Christmas decorations and gifts. According to traders, most of the decorative items and gifts come from China. However, no new goods were imported from China this year. As a result, last year''s surplus material is being sold. However, new items made in Mumbai, Ludhiana, Kolkata are on sale. The members of the Christian community are seen purchasing a star (sky lantern) and various items for the depiction of the birth scene of the Lord Jesus Christ. This includes a hut, cowshed, hay, cotton and cardboard decorations. Also, Christmas stickers, colourful wreaths, bells, and Christmas trees are also being purchased. Especially, Santa Claus dresses that convey a message of love are also in demand. Apart from this, orders for cakes and pastries are being placed at bakeries.
Impact on sales due to school closure
Every year for Christmas, there is a huge demand for the star, Christmas tree, Santa Claus dress, cake and pastries from the schools. Demand has dropped by half this year as schools are closed due to corona said trader Sanjay Daulatabadkar.
