Yermala (Dharashiv):

In a tragic incident, a 15-year-old student, Rudra Santosh Dhumal (resident of Ambajogai), drowned in a pond at the sacred Shri Datta Temple Math area in Malkapur, Kalamb tehsil, on Sunday around 9 am.

Rudra had come to Malkapur with a Warkari group from Ter for a kirtan programme. As an Akhand Harinam Saptah is currently underway at the Math, a large number of devotees were present. On Sunday morning, Rudra went to a nearby storage pond with two friends for a swim. However, unable to gauge the depth of the water and not knowing how to swim, he began to drown in deep water. His friends made desperate attempts to save him but were unsuccessful. One of them ran to inform Raghunandan Pujari of the Warkari group, but by the time help arrived, Rudra had already drowned.

Rescue team did not arrive till 3 pm

Upon receiving information, local police reached the spot. The disaster management team was immediately alerted for rescue operations. However, despite the incident occurring at 9 am, the team had not reached the site even by 3 pm, leading to a delay in retrieving the body, alleged relatives.
