The city remained under intense heat on Saturday as the maximum temperature touched 41.6°C. Temperatures have stayed above 40°C for the past 15 days, causing a sharp decline in movement on major roads between noon and 4 pm.

Residents say this summer feels harsher than previous years. On Friday, the city recorded a minimum of 28.4°C and a maximum of 40.8°C, with temperatures rising further the next day.

According to the Chikalthana observatory, the mercury had already crossed 27.4°C by 9 am on Saturday before climbing to 41.6°C by afternoon. The heat and humidity left many citizens exhausted, with most choosing to stay indoors during peak hours. The season's highest temperatures were recorded on May 12 and 13, when the mercury hit 43.6°C and 43.4°C respectively. Though temperatures have dipped slightly since then, the persistent 40°C-plus heat continues to offer little relief.
