Temperature hits 43.4°C for third time

The city has been gripped by severe heat, recording 43.4°C on May 13 the third such instance in recent weeks after April 26 and May 11.
May 12 peaked at 43.6°C, the highest in six years. Temperatures, which were below 40°C until May 10, surged by over 4 degrees in just three days, officially qualifying as a heatwave. Despite partial cloud cover in the afternoon, oppressive heat persisted well into the evening, with the period between noon and 5 pm proving the most intense.

The Meteorological Department has issued a Yellow Alert heatwave warning for the district until May 15. Resident deputy collector and district disaster management authority CEO Janardan Vidhate urged citizens to take precautions drink water every half hour even without feeling thirsty, cover the head with an umbrella or cap when stepping out, and avoid going outdoors between 12 noon and 4 pm.
