Thieves strike amid vote counting, 13-tola gold stolen

During municipal vote counting, thieves from Beed targeted supporters celebrating candidates’ victories. Gold chains worth 13 tolas, 5–6 mobile phones, and motorcycles were stolen outside Garware counting center and Osmanpura.

Incident with Prashant Jaiswal:

Prashant Jaiswal (26) of Satara, a private bank employee, had gone to Garware ground on January 16 around 1 pm. Amid the crowd and mild police action, a thief snatched his 1-tola gold chain. Prashant caught the thief, who passed the chain to an accomplice and escaped. The thief, Subhash Gunjal (20, Beed), was arrested by MIDC Cidco police.

Thieves also stole a 30-tola locket from Narendra Avhad (33), a 27-gram locket and Rs 1,500 cash from Satvik Tepale (24, Naregaon), and a 30-gram gold chain from Shubham Gonde (26, Naregaon). Police said Subhash and accomplices came from Beed specifically to loot.

Engineer targeted:

Engineer Vishal Patil (35, Satara) lost his 3-tola gold chain at the Government Engineering College around 12.30 pm on January 16. A case has been registered at Osmanpura police station.
