Tight police security for ZP, PS vote counting

Counting of votes polled on February 7 for the Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections will begin from Monday morning, with the district police deploying heavy security at counting centres in every taluka. Entry to counting centres will be strictly regulated, and no one will be allowed inside without permission.

To maintain law and order, around 1,800 police personnel, 3,000 home guards, eight deputy superintendents of police, 18 police inspectors, 137 assistant inspectors and sub-inspectors, along with over 180 armed SRPF jawans, will be deployed. Security arrangements will be in place at all centres from 6 am onwards, with each centre under the supervision of a deputy superintendent of police. A separate cyber police team will monitor social media for objectionable posts. Superintendent of police Dr. Vinaykumar Rathod warned that any attempt to disturb law and order will invite strict action without leniency, and urged citizens not to believe rumours and to contact the nearest police personnel in case of any issue.
