‘Today's hard work leads to tomorrow’s success’: Pro-VC Dr Shirsath

By Mehboob Inamdar

Aurangabad, June 20:

Dr Shyam Shirsath (Pro-VC, Bamu): The role of a father has certainly changed in today’s time. Earlier, there was a joint-family system. Besides parents, there were grandparents, paternal uncles, aunts in that system. A child had access to express with those family members. All used to share the responsibility of a family depending on age and solve the problems.

Parents used to allow their children to take a risk. Today, a child has limited access and can express with parent or sibling in a nuclear family. Today, children have high expectations from their father.

Also, a father is more protective about his children and become worried even on the slightest injury of his son or daughter.

I think today, a father should set an example so that his children follow him very much. He should inculcate moral in his children, specially youths and train them to sustain themselves while facing challenges in life.

A father should make children aware of their responsibilities and become self-dependent.

My father, Triambakrao Shirsath (75), a lawyer by profession, is and hale and hearty. I still remember his words, he told me when I was coming to the city in 1990 to take admissions in junior college. He said to me, “Your tomorrow’s success depends on your today’s hard work and preparations.” The words have changed my career and life. His daily routine begins at 4 am even today and he works in the farm whenever possible.

My father is a friend, philosopher & guide

Aishwarya Tak (Research Student, Bamu): The place of parents in every person's life is supernatural. The place of the father? is as important in life as the mother. Every year we celebrate Women's Day, Mother's Day and in it, do we forget our father?, the question sometimes arises.

There are different addresses as a father doer, the statement that the father is a father and he is definitely true. It's hard to talk about my father in my life.

Because I grew up under my mother's shadow, I have never seen a stronger role as a father. But if I look back at the age of five, I realise that my father is also a good friend in my life. The mother is the wing of my dreams, while the father is the source of energy that gives strength to the wing of those dreams.

In all my life, my father has never let me down. They didn’t have any kind of negative role to play in me in deciding where to go. My father is one of the strongest pillars of my life, who opposes all people in life and trusts me.

Coming from mostly rural areas where I have a father who strongly supports me in every decision I go against, a society that is in a hurry to get married immediately after higher education or after a certain age. They are no less than any angel in my life. I am very proud of my father.
