Retired Bajaj employee Bhausaheb Pathade (62, Deolai) died by suicide after relentless harassment by his second wife Kalpana (32) and her brother Navnath Lendhe over money. On Sunday, case has been filed at MIDC Cidco police station against Kalpana, Navnath, and three others Kakasaheb Talekar, Arjun Kasole, and Appasaheb Shinde for abetting suicide.
After his first wife's death in 2011, Bhausaheb married Kalpana in a Gandharva ceremony. Upon retirement in 2022, he received Rs 25 lakh of which Kalpana immediately took Rs 15 lakh. Bhausaheb used the rest for his daughter's wedding. Despite this, Kalpana kept demanding more money for herself and her brother, and pressured him to sell his ancestral land. His son Rahul, an architect, moved out unable to bear the situation. Kalpana then brought brother Navnath into the house, and together they intensified the harassment. On May 16, Bhausaheb left home, called Rahul, spoke about the torture and his regret over the second marriage — and went missing.
