Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

Traffic came to a standstill for nearly two hours on the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar–Jalgaon national highway from 11 am on Sunday, causing severe inconvenience to motorists and passengers. Being a holiday and peak wedding season, traffic flow increased on the two main routes passing through the town, exposing lack of planning by police and authorities.

The congestion occurred at a T-point where roads from Panwadi, Sillod and Khultabad converge. Heavy vehicles attempting to turn blocked the entire stretch, leading to long queues of trucks, travel buses and two-wheelers. With vehicles unmoved for nearly two hours under intense heat, children, women and elderly passengers faced hardship. As there is no permanent traffic staff deployment and no signal system or proper signage at the junction, the problem recurs frequently. Police inspector Sanjay Sahane stated that a meeting with National Highways Authority of India (Nahi)officials is scheduled on April 28 to remove encroachments and streamline traffic.
