A series of house break-ins, shop thefts, liquor theft and chain-snatching incidents have triggered concern among residents and traders. After four shops were burgled on Jalna Road, two house break-ins and a beer bar theft were reported on May 5, with citizens alleging police inaction.
Thieves looted the house of Amol Kusale (Dhimbar Galli, Begumpura) between May 3 and 5, stealing Rs 95,000 in cash and gold and silver ornaments worth lakhs. A case was registered at the Begumpura police station. In another case, Asha Tukaram Kanade (Chaudeshwari Society), who was in Pune from May 3, returned on May 5 to find her house lock broken and jewellery stolen. A case was filed at the Pundliknagar police station. Advocate Shripad Kutaskar’s mobile phone was stolen near Shahanurmiya Dargah around 7 pm on May 4. Jawaharnagar police have registered a case.

Liquor worth Rs 29,500 stolen from beer bar
In a separate incident, unidentified persons broke open a beer bar shutter in Azad Chowk between midnight and early May 5, stealing 128 liquor bottles and three units worth Rs 29,500. A case was registered at Jinsi police station on the complaint of manager Sachin Kunthe.

Four two-wheelers stolen
Additionally, four motorcycles were stolen from different areas N-12, Jaybhavaninagar (Mukundwadi), Fatima Lawns and district civil hospital between April 29 and May 3. Cases were registered on May 5 at Cidco, Mukundwadi, Satara and MIDC Cidco police stations.
