Aurangabad, June 26:

The vaccination centre started at the Health Centre of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu) was closed down because of low response. The closure of the centre has disgraced the university administration.

It may be noted that the BAMU issued a letter to the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) to start a vaccination centre. The centre was started at the health centre for teachers, officers and employees of the university.

There was a target of 1500 person vaccination in the first phase while their families were to be vaccinated.

A total of 21 persons were registered, while only ten of them took the vaccine on the first day.

The AMC refused to supply vaccine to see the low response. Ultimately, the centre was closed down.

Medical officer of Bamu Health Centre Dr Anand Somanvanshi, said that the vaccination centre was launched for the convenience of officers, employees and teachers.“However, the centre was closed down due to low response,” he added.

The Civic Body had sent its staff also to the vaccination centre.

The AMC took back the vials of vaccines.
