With the objective of creating a rightful platform to honour village sarpanches who have made invaluable contributions to the progress of Maharashtra and the nation, the Lokmat Group has initiated the fifth edition of the ‘Lokmat Sarpanch Awards.’ The initiative aims to recognise impactful leadership and developmental work undertaken for the holistic growth and brighter future of villages. The awards have received an enthusiastic response from gram panchayats in Solapur district.

A total of 13 categories will recognise outstanding performance by village heads across the district. Presented by BKT Tyres, powered by Santoor, co-powered by Tata Power Solar Roof, and with itel Mobile as the technology partner, the fifth edition of the Lokmat Sarpanch Awards has garnered significant participation from sarpanches across the district. The grand award ceremony will soon be held in Solapur.

How to Apply?

Under this initiative, gram panchayats can participate in any one of the 13 award categories. Applicants must select a relevant category and submit details of their notable achievements or development works. Supporting documents and proof related to the work must be attached with the application.

9. Administration / E-Governance / Public Participation

10. Employment Generation

13. Sarpanch of the Year

Selection Process:

1. An independent jury committee will be constituted to review all applications.

2. The jury team will scrutinise the received entries.

3. Shortlisted gram panchayats will be visited by jury members for on-ground assessment.

4. Final selections in the 13 categories will then be announced.

Awareness campaign across villages

To ensure maximum participation, an awareness campaign was conducted across Solapur district from April 4 to April 11 through a promotional vehicle. Sarpanches and gram sevaks were personally informed and encouraged to participate. Street plays were also organised to spread awareness about the awards.

Strong response to canter activity

The fifth edition of BKT Presents ‘Lokmat Sarpanch Awards,’ powered by Santoor and co-powered by Tata Power Solar Roof and itel, has commenced with an overwhelming response in rural areas. The canter campaign received warm welcomes from villagers across multiple locations.
