Visitors enjoy free entry to ticketed monuments on World Heritage Day

On account of World Heritage Day, the announcement of free entry to the visitors at the five ticketed monuments by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI, Aurangabad Circle) encouraged heavy footfall at the important monuments like world heritage Ajanta Caves and Ellora Caves, Bibi ka Maqbara and Daulatabad Fort. The visitors enjoyed the pleasant shock when they learnt about free entry to the heritage sites.

Meanwhile, the home minister of Bhutan, Lyonpo Tshering, visited the world heritage Ajanta Caves and the deputy chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh Chowna Mein visited the world heritage Ellora Caves, on Saturday.

Under the supervision of the superintending archaeologist Dr Shiv Kumar Bhagat, the conservation assistants Sanjay Rohankar, Manoj Pawar and Nilesh Koli along their teams were on toes during the whole day in tackling the rush of visitors.

According to ASI sources, 4,000 footfalls were recorded at Ellora Caves, 2,000 at Bibi ka Maqbara, 350 at Devgiri (Daulatabad) Fort, etc.
