The state wakf minister Nawab Malik today underlined that the Maharashtra State Board of Wakfs (MSBoW) would be constituted in next three months as the process to appoint the members is underway. The minister also confirmed the appointment of a regular chief executive officer (CEO) in the office.
It so happened that Malik was in the city to attend the annual planning meeting of the Marathwada at the divisional commissionerate. Before the meeting, the minister held a meeting with the Wakf officials at Subhedari Guest House today in the morning. Briefing about the meeting with Wakf officials to the selective media persons in the afternoon, Nawab Malik said, " The efforts are ongoing to preserve old and other records of the board digitally. Besides, the state government had permitted the recruitment of 140 personnel. Hence the recruitment will be undertaken in phases. The process to start functioning of the district level Wakf Board offices will also be completed in the next three months.
In reply to a question about the allegations made by the MP Imtiaz Jaleel in connection with the irregularity of the Wakf land, the minister said," He is now a part of the board. It is true that it is the responsibility of officers and employees to increase the board's revenue. However, the Wakf property could be leased out only as per the board's rules and regulations. Besides, there should be an action against the occupants refusing to pay revised rent to the board."
When his attention was drawn towards the closure of Maulana Azad Minorities Financial Development Corporation, Malik said, the financial instability emerged as the loans disbursed to many beneficiaries were not repaid by them.
