“We were going to water park after Shirdi darshan, but the car spun and crashed”

“After visiting Shirdi, we were heading to a water park. Suddenly, the car started spinning and crashed. We couldn’t understand what exactly happened,” said 10-year-old Mahi Todkar, injured in the Samruddhi Expressway accident. Seven injured persons are currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city.

The injured include Manohar Varankar (45), Shivkanya Varankar (39), Abhishek Dukandar (25), Priyanka Varankar (23), and Divya Varankar (7), who have been admitted to the ICU. Mahi Todkar and Devansh Varankar (6) are being treated in the general ward, informed Dr Rohan Gundre.

Manohar and Shivkanya suffered chest injuries, while Abhishek sustained a fracture in his left leg. Priyanka also suffered a chest injury along with bleeding near the lungs.

“We had school holidays and planned a trip”

Mahi said, “We left at 3 am. We had school holidays and were going to a water park after visiting Shirdi. While travelling, the car suddenly spun and then crashed. I wasn’t seriously injured, but Devansh was hurt more.”
