Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

Students, young women and senior citizens raised a series of civic concerns during the ‘Samvad Mahapauranshi’ programme held on Friday afternoon, questioning mayor Sameer Rajurkar on the lack of public toilets for women, need for sanitary vending machines, stray dog menace and water supply issues.

The event was organised by MGM in the presence of secretary Ankushrao Kadam, P.M. Jadhav, Dr Sudhir Gawhane, Bhausaheb Rajale and Ashish Gadekar, among others.

In his address, the mayor highlighted priorities for the first 100 days, including transparent municipal governance, adequate water supply and awareness on waste management. Responding to queries on penal action, he said fines would be imposed on those littering despite daily doorstep waste collection.

Concerns regarding women’s safety, public toilets and stray dogs were also raised by participants. The mayor assured that public toilets would be provided and noted that sterilisation drives for stray dogs often face obstacles.

The condition of municipal schools was also discussed during the session. A demand for an anti-corruption cell in the municipal corporation was raised, to which the mayor said civic services would be moved online to minimise corruption. A citizen also demanded implementation of rainwater harvesting, which the mayor stated is mandatory.
