Woman returning from England tested COVID positive; swab sent to NIV-Pune

Aurangabad, Dec 25:

The health officials of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) passed a sleepless night after one woman citizen, who returned from England, have been reported as Covid-19 positive. The swab was taken for RT-PCR test on Thursday. Meanwhile, the administration has sent the swab sample for cross-verification to National Institute of Virology (NIV) Pune, said the AMC sources.

Acting upon the order''s of the district collector and acting AMC administrator Sunil Chavan, the AMC obtained a list of 44 citizens, who had arrived in the city from Britain (United Kingdom) from November 25 to December 24. The Airport Authority of India shared the list. Earlier, the AMC health officials tested seven citizens, and all of them were reported as Covid-19 negative. Today was the government holiday on account of the Christmas, but the health officials were on toes during the whole day. The AMC health teams were busy in finding locations of these returnees as per the list.

It is learnt that the above woman returned from England on November 15. In response to an appeal, she contacted the primary health centre at Bansilalnagar on Thursday morning for testing. The civic officials received the report of woman today, and it declared that she is Covid-19 positive. The civic officials geared up and they sent the swab sample of the woman to NIV (Pune) to ensure whether the lady is infected by the new variant of Coronavirus (which is creating terror in England) or not?.

Independent facility at Dhoot Hospital

Meanwhile, the S.N.Dhoot Hospital has made a separate arrangement to treat patients returning from foreign. The hospital has established a dedicated ward with special care that the infected patients from this ward will not contact other Covid-19 patients getting treated in another ward. The AMC has launched the survey to locate these citizens returning from England and get them tested.
