Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A 22-year-old youth, Saurabh Govind Tambe (Shendra Kamgar, Sambhajinagar) was killed on the spot after a speeding truck rammed into his two-wheeler near the Shendra MIDC area at 4 pm on Tuesday.

The vehicle fled the scene after the accident. A case was registered at Chikalthana Police Station and further investigation is underway.

Deceased Saurabh was riding his two-wheeler (MH-20--5408) when an oncoming speeding truck collided with him. According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred because the truck driver failed to gauge the approaching two-wheeler in time.

Saurabh was critically injured in the accident and succumbed to his injuries shortly after. Local residents rushed him to the Government Hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, but doctors examined him and declared him dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, preliminary investigation revealed that the truck had no number plate, and the vehicle is currently in police custody. This has once again brought the issue of illegally operating vehicles to the fore. Local residents expressed strong outrage over the incident.

Citizens stated that large-scale illegal murrum transportation is being carried out in the area, with the trucks running at high speeds. Vehicle owners are demanding that the police administration and revenue department take strict action against such vehicles. Saurabh is survived by parents and a younger brother. His last rites were performed at Shendra.
