New Delhi, June 28 BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) will prepare the power infrastructure at the Sardar Patel Covid Care Centre and Hospital.

In a statement, BSES said that it has been tasked to prepare the power infrastructure at the temporary COVID-19 facility by July 5.

BRPL had initially been entrusted to provide an electric load of 18,000 KW (18 MW). But, looking at the requirements, the power-load requirement has now been increased to 23,000 KW(23 MW).

"For catering to this massive load requirement, over 100 discom officials and workers are working round-the-clock under the direct supervision of the company' senior leadership team and in close coordination with the government and other departments," the statement said.

For establishing the power infrastructure, BRPL is laying four dedicated 11KV feeders, with a length of around 5 kilometre each, totalling around 22 kilometre using trenchless technology. All the cables are being laid-underground.

Apart from this, twenty four distribution transformers that include 22 transformers of 1,000 KVA and 2 of 1,600 KVA) and 4 sub-stations are being installed for setting-up the 25 MVA capacity across the four locations in the premises, it said.

Further, for ensuring safety of the premises, most of the transformers being set-up are dry-type, which don't have the requirement of oil and are maintenance-free.

The facility will get electricity from BSES' Fatehpur Beri Grid, with sufficient redundancy to ensure that even if one of the lines trips, the power-load can be routed from the alternate line.

"The work is being carried on a war-footing by adhering to all the government safety guidelines and protocols. Working against gruelling deadlines, BSES' team managed to commission a load of 4,000 KW (4 MW) by June 25 by energising 4 distribution transformers Rest of the load (19,000 kW or 19 MW) will be commissioned by July 5, 2020," it said.
