IPL 2026: Mukesh Choudhary, a fast bowler for Chennai Super Kings, has suffered a personal loss after his mother Prem Devi died on Tuesday following a prolonged illness. She had been undergoing treatment at Tata Hospital in Mumbai, where she died after battling illness for nearly a year, according to reports.
The franchise expressed its condolences in a statement on X. “The CSK family mourns the passing of Mukesh Choudhary’s mother. We stand with Mukesh and his family, keeping them in our thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time,” the team said.
Choudhary reportedly travelled to his hometown Bhilwara in Rajasthan soon after CSK’s recent match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday and performed the last rites alongside his elder brother, Dr. Rajesh Choudhary.
Meanwhile, CSK’s former captain MS Dhoni is reported to have been in constant touch with Choudhary during the difficult period and also visited his mother in hospital.
It remains unclear when Choudhary will return to competitive action. While some reports suggest he has rejoined the CSK squad ahead of their match against Mumbai Indians, others indicate he may take a short break and could be available for the next fixture.
