The milestone came when Rahul reached his 13th run of the innings at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, taking his overall tally beyond Dhoni’s mark of 5,439 runs. Dhoni, who has not featured in IPL 2026 so far, had achieved his tally across 278 matches at an average of 38.30.

Rahul, one of the most consistent batters in the league, reached the landmark significantly quicker — in just 152 matches and 143 innings.

The Delhi Capitals opener now sits sixth on the all-time IPL run charts, behind Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, David Warner and Suresh Raina.
