IPL 2026, PBKS vs DC Today Match: Lungi Ngidi was stretchered off the field after suffering a head injury during Delhi Capitals’ Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match against Punjab Kings at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday, April 25, 2026.The incident occurred in the third over of Punjab Kings’ innings when Ngidi attempted a catch off Axar Patel’s bowling. Running back from mid-off in an effort to dismiss opener Priyansh Arya, the South African pacer lost his balance while tracking the ball over his head and fell awkwardly, hitting his head on the ground.
Ngidi appeared to be in immediate distress, clutching his head and remaining motionless for several minutes as medical staff rushed onto the field. An ambulance was brought onto the ground, and he was eventually taken off on a stretcher for further evaluation.
Delhi Capitals subsequently brought in Dushmantha Chameera as a like-for-like replacement under the concussion substitute rule.
There was no immediate update on Ngidi’s condition at the time of writing.
