Delhi Capitals on Tuesday announced former Australian fast bowler Ryan Harris as their new bowling coach. The 40-year-old, who previously held the position as bowling coach for Kings XI Punjab, will join the Delhi Capitals side in the UAE for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League, which kicks off from September 19th. Harris replaces James Hopes, who had been originally appointed in the role but decided to give the tournament a miss due to personal reasons. Harris joins  a Delhi support staff headed by compatriot Ricky Ponting and Mohammad Kaif, Samuel Badree and Vijay Dahiya.

"I am delighted to be back in the IPL," Harris said, on his newest challenge in IPL. "This is a huge opportunity for me to contribute to the franchise's ambitions of lifting the coveted IPL trophy. The Delhi Capitals side has an impressive bowling line up, and I can't wait to start working with them all."Harris was part of the 2009 Deccan Chargers team that won the second edition of the IPL in South Africa under the leadership of Adam Gilchrist. A late entrant in international cricket, Harris has 113 Test wickets, 44 ODI wickets, and 4 T20I wickets to his name. Harris has undertaken coaching assignments with the Australian team, Big Bash League side Brisbane Heat in the past. Currently all teams are placed under strict quarantine in UAE, where their COVID-19  tests will be conducted after certain days. The players need to get at least two negative tests in order to resume training.
