IPL 2026: Mumbai Indians (MI) have received a major boost ahead of their crucial Indian Premier League 2026 clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) as star batter Suryakumar Yadav has reportedly made himself available for the encounter scheduled to be played at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur on Sunday, May 10, 2026. However, MI captain Hardik Pandya remains doubtful for the must-win clash due to a back spasm.
Hardik missed MI’s previous game against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) because of a back spasm. In his absence, Suryakumar Yadav led the side brilliantly and guided Mumbai to a six-wicket victory. Although Hardik has now joined the MI squad in Raipur, his participation against RCB will depend on clearance from the medical team.
Meanwhile, there were doubts surrounding Suryakumar’s availability after the star batter recently became a father. The MI management had reportedly left the final decision to the player regarding whether he wanted to take part in the RCB fixture. According to a report by Cricbuzz, Suryakumar has informed the franchise that he is available for the match and is expected to join the squad in Raipur soon.
If Hardik is ruled out of the contest, Suryakumar is likely to continue leading the side against RCB.
Both senior stars, however, have endured underwhelming IPL 2026 campaigns so far. Suryakumar has scored 195 runs in 10 innings at an average of 19.50, including one half-century. Hardik, on the other hand, has managed 146 runs and four wickets in eight appearances this season.
Meanwhile, MI are currently fighting to keep their playoff hopes alive after managing just three wins from 10 matches this season. The five-time champions sit ninth in the IPL 2026 points table and need victories in all their remaining fixtures to stay in contention for the knockout stage.
