Delhi Capitals vs Kolkata Knight Riders Standings: Delhi Capitals suffered a major blow to their Indian Premier League 2026 playoff hopes after losing to Kolkata Knight Riders by eight wickets in Match 51 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Friday, May 8, 2026. The defeat was DC’s seventh loss of the season and left the Axar Patel-led side in a difficult position in the race for the top four.

After being asked to bat first by KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane, Delhi Capitals struggled throughout the innings and managed only 142/8 in their 20 overs. KKR chased down the target comfortably despite losing Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi early in the innings.

The loss pushed DC down to eighth place in the points table with just eight points from 11 matches and a poor Net Run Rate of -1.154.

Delhi Capitals can now reach a maximum of 14 points if they win all three of their remaining league-stage matches. While 14 points may still keep them mathematically alive in the playoff race, qualification would depend heavily on other results and Net Run Rate calculations.

Another defeat from this point onward would officially eliminate DC from IPL 2026 playoff contention.

Delhi’s recent form has also become a major concern. After beginning the season strongly with wins over Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians, the franchise has suffered defeats in seven of its last nine matches.

The team has particularly struggled at home, losing crucial fixtures against Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Chennai Super Kings and KKR at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Delhi Capitals will next face Punjab Kings in Dharamsala on May 11 in what has effectively become a must-win clash for the franchise. They will then host Rajasthan Royals on May 17 before ending their league-stage campaign against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on May 24.

Meanwhile, the victory kept KKR’s playoff hopes alive as the defending champions climbed to seventh place with nine points from 10 matches.
