The Australia pacer joined the SRH camp earlier in March and began his rehabilitation in Bengaluru under the supervision of the team’s medical staff. He later returned to Australia for scans conducted by Cricket Australia before rejoining the squad on April 17.

Head coach Daniel Vettori has earlier indicated that Cummins is expected to return only from April 25, when Sunrisers Hyderabad face Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur. In his absence, wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan has been leading the side.
Cummins had made a brief international comeback during the 2025-26 Ashes but was subsequently ruled out again as the injury worsened, forcing him to miss the ICC T20 World Cup earlier this year.
Both teams are coming off victories in their previous outings. Hyderabad defeated Chennai Super Kings by 10 runs, while Delhi beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru by six wickets.

Axar Patel won the toss and opted to bowl first. DC made one change, bringing in Nitish Rana in place of Aujib Nabi. For SRH, Harsh Dubey returns to the XI.
