The win helped Gujarat Titans climb to the top of the IPL 2026 points table with 16 points from 12 matches, while Sunrisers Hyderabad slipped to third despite remaining firmly in contention for a playoff berth.

As per IPL rules, the top four teams at the end of the league stage qualify for the playoffs. The top two teams face off in Qualifier 1, where the winner advances directly to the final while the loser gets another opportunity in Qualifier 2. The third and fourth-placed teams compete in the Eliminator, with the loser getting knocked out of the tournament.

With only a handful of league games remaining, several teams are still mathematically alive in the race for the top four. Here is a look at the updated qualification scenarios for all 10 franchises after GT vs SRH Match 56.

Gujarat Titans

Gujarat Titans are now in the safest position among all teams after climbing to the top of the table with 16 points from 12 matches and a net run rate of 0.551. Historically, 16 points have generally guaranteed qualification in a 10-team IPL season. GT now require just one more victory to officially confirm a playoff berth. The Shubman Gill-led side can still finish with 20 points if they win their remaining matches.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru

Royal Challengers Bengaluru are currently second in the standings with 14 points from 11 matches and the best net run rate in the competition at 1.103.

RCB need just one win from their remaining three matches to officially secure qualification for the playoffs. If Rajat Patidar’s side wins all three matches, they could finish on 20 points and strongly challenge for a top-two position.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad slipped to third place following the heavy defeat to Gujarat Titans. SRH now have 14 points from 12 matches and a net run rate of 0.331.

Pat Cummins and his men still remain in a strong position and require only one win from their final two league games to move to 16 points and likely confirm playoff qualification. Two victories would take SRH to 18 points and potentially secure a top-two finish.

Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings have endured a difficult phase after starting the season brilliantly. PBKS have now lost four matches in succession and slipped to fourth place on the points table.

Shreyas Iyer’s side currently has 13 points from 11 matches with a net run rate of 0.428. Punjab will likely need to win at least two of their remaining three matches to comfortably qualify for the playoffs with 17 points. Winning all three games would take them to 19 points and keep them in contention for a top-two finish.

Chennai Super Kings

Chennai Super Kings remain alive in the playoff race despite a mixed campaign. CSK currently have 12 points from 11 matches with a net run rate of0.185.

The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side likely needs two wins from their remaining three games to reach the 16-point mark, which could be enough for qualification. Winning all three matches would take CSK to 18 points and significantly improve their chances of finishing in the top four.

Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals are sixth in the standings with 12 points from 11 matches and a net run rate of 0.082.

RR need to win at least two of their remaining three league games to stay firmly in contention for a playoff spot. If they manage to win all three matches, they can finish with 18 points and potentially challenge for a top-two finish depending on other results.

Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals kept their slim playoff hopes alive with a dramatic victory over Punjab Kings in Dharamsala. DC now have 10 points from 12 matches and are placed seventh in the standings.

Axar Patel’s side must win both remaining league matches to finish on 14 points. However, even 14 points may not guarantee qualification, meaning Delhi will also depend on favourable results from other teams and a significant improvement in net run rate.

Kolkata Knight Riders

Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders are still mathematically alive in the tournament with nine points from 10 matches.

KKR must win all four remaining games to finish on 17 points. Even then, Ajinkya Rahane’s side could require other results to go in their favour due to their negative net run rate of -0.169.

Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians have officially been knocked out of the IPL 2026 playoff race following their defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Hardik Pandya’s side has managed only three wins from 11 matches and can reach a maximum of 12 points, which is no longer enough for qualification.

Lucknow Super Giants

Lucknow Super Giants became the first team to be eliminated from IPL 2026 after their loss to Chennai Super Kings earlier this week.

Rishabh Pant’s side has struggled throughout the season and currently has six points from 11 matches with a net run rate of -0.907. Even if LSG win all remaining matches, they cannot qualify for the playoffs.
