IPL Points Table 2026: Sunrisers Hyderabad confirmed their place in the Indian Premier League 2026 playoffs with a five-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings in Match 63 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Monday, May 18, 2026. The victory also secured playoff qualification for Gujarat Titans, while Chennai Super Kings were left hanging by a thread in the race for the final playoff spot.

After winning the toss, CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad opted to bat first. Chennai made one change with Akeal Hosein replacing Gurjanpreet Singh, while SRH fielded an unchanged side under Pat Cummins.

CSK started aggressively through Sanju Samson and Gaikwad. Samson played attacking shots from the outset before Cummins dismissed him for 27 off 13 deliveries.

Gaikwad and Kartik Sharma then rebuilt the innings, but Sharma departed after scoring 32 runs. Gaikwad struggled for timing throughout his stay and was dismissed for 15 off 21 balls without hitting a boundary.

With CSK reduced to 100/4, Dewald Brevis and Shivam Dube counterattacked to lift the innings. Brevis made 44 off 27 balls, while Dube added 26 as Chennai finished on 180/7 in 20 overs.

Chasing 181, SRH lost Travis Head early for six, but Abhishek Sharma attacked from the start to keep the scoreboard moving.

The pitch slowed down as the innings progressed, allowing CSK bowlers to tighten the scoring rate. Abhishek eventually fell for 26, bringing together Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen.

The pair added 75 runs for the third wicket, with Klaasen scoring 47 off 26 deliveries before being dismissed by Noor Ahmad.

Kishan continued to anchor the chase and brought up his half-century in 37 balls. The left-hander remained the key figure in the innings with a match-winning 70 as Sunrisers Hyderabad completed the chase with five wickets in hand.
