IPL 2026: Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma equalled MS Dhoni’s record for the most appearances in Indian Premier League history during Match 54 of the IPL 2026 between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Raipur on Sunday, May 10, 2026. The match at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium marked the 278th IPL appearance for both Kohli and Rohit, drawing them level with Dhoni’s long-standing record.

Dhoni achieved the feat while representing Chennai Super Kings and Rising Pune Supergiant between 2008 and 2025.

Rohit has featured for Deccan Chargers and Mumbai Indians during his IPL career, while Kohli has represented Royal Challengers Bengaluru since the inaugural season in 2008.

Kohli also continues to dominate the record books in franchise T20 cricket. The former RCB captain has now played 293 matches for Bengaluru across all T20 competitions and scored 9,464 runs for the franchise, the most runs by a batter for a single team in T20 history.

Rohit, meanwhile, entered the match with 6,370 runs for Mumbai Indians in T20 cricket. The former MI captain needed 92 runs in the clash against RCB to surpass James Vince and move to second place in the list of batters with the most runs for one team in T20s.

Among active players, Ravindra Jadeja sits fourth on the all-time list with 265 appearances, followed by Dinesh Karthik with 257 matches.
