IPL 2026, RCB vs DC Today Match: Delhi Capitals fast bowler Lungi Ngidi was not included in the playing XI for today’s Indian Premier League 2026 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Arun Jaitley Stadium as he continues to recover from a head injury sustained earlier in the tournament.
Ngidi suffered the injury during Delhi Capitals’ previous clash against Punjab Kings, where he fell awkwardly while attempting a catch and hit the back of his head on the ground. He was subsequently taken off the ground in an ambulance and shifted to a hospital for further evaluation.
Although subsequent medical checks confirmed that the fast bowler did not sustain a serious injury and he has since rejoined the squad, he remains under concussion protocols. As per standard guidelines, players must undergo multiple assessments before being cleared to return to match action.
Ngidi’s absence continues to be a precautionary measure, and a final decision on his return will depend on further medical assessments in the coming days.
In his absence, Delhi Capitals included overseas pace options Dushmantha Chameera and Kyle Jamieson in the playing XI, while Mukesh Kumar was rested as part of workload management.
Mitchell Starc, another frontline option, is also unavailable for today’s match and is expected to return only in May.
Toss Result
RCB captain Rajat Patidar won the toss and opted to bowl first against DC.
