Starc’s absence continues to leave a gap in Delhi’s pace attack, which has struggled for consistency this season. The team is currently seventh on the points table with six points after failing to defend a total of 264 in their previous match against Punjab Kings.

Indian pacers Mukesh Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed and T Natarajan have led the attack in Starc’s absence, while Lungi Ngidi, who featured in recent matches, is dealing with an injury concern.

Starc, one of the most experienced fast bowlers in international cricket, picked up 14 wickets for Delhi Capitals last season and is expected to strengthen the bowling unit upon his return.

Delhi Capitals will continue with their current combination for the match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru as they look to stay in contention for a playoff spot.
