IPL 2026: Kolkata Knight Riders spinner Varun Chakravarthy remains doubtful for Match 60 of the Indian Premier League 2026 against Gujarat Titans at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Saturday as the mystery spinner continues to recover from a foot injury.
KKR’s playoff hopes suffered a major setback after their defeat to defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their previous outing. The loss ended Kolkata’s four-match winning streak and left them with a maximum possible tally of 15 points this season.
Varun was ruled out of the RCB clash due to what was reportedly a suspected hairline fracture in his left foot, although captain Ajinkya Rahane later described it as a niggle during the toss.
The spinner has endured an inconsistent IPL 2026 campaign so far. After struggling for rhythm and consistency in the first half of the tournament, Varun regained form in recent matches and played a key role in KKR’s resurgence alongside veteran spinner Sunil Narine.
His improved control and variations helped KKR dominate the middle overs during their winning run, which included a notable victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Ahead of the match against Gujarat, Varun was seen bowling in the nets during training, offering hope of a possible return. However, the KKR medical staff and coaching group are expected to monitor his fitness closely before making a final decision on his availability.
Gujarat Titans, meanwhile, head into the contest on the back of five consecutive wins and are close to securing a playoff berth. A victory over KKR would also strengthen their chances of finishing in the top two on the points table.
