IPL  2026: Chennai Super Kings have signed South African all-rounder Dian Forrester as a replacement for injured England all-rounder Jamie Overton for the remainder of the Indian Premier League 2026.

Overton suffered a right thigh injury that ruled him out of the rest of the tournament. The England pacer featured in 10 of CSK’s first 11 matches this season and claimed 14 wickets during the campaign.

Forrester, a left-handed batter and right-arm fast bowler, joins the franchise for INR 75 lakh. The 25-year-old previously represented Joburg Super Kings during the 2025-26 SA20 season.

The South African all-rounder made his T20 International debut earlier this year during South Africa’s tour of New Zealand in March.

Forrester also featured in the 2026 edition of the Pakistan Super League for Rawalpindi, scoring 132 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 171.42.

During the SA20 season, he scored 175 runs in eight innings at a strike rate of 165.09 for Joburg Super Kings. His best performance came in an unbeaten 80 off 42 deliveries against MI Cape Town, an innings that included four boundaries and five sixes.

Although primarily signed as a pace-bowling all-rounder, Forrester bowled sparingly in both tournaments. He picked up two wickets in the PSL and bowled just one over in the SA20 season without taking a wicket.

CSK are currently fifth in the IPL 2026 standings with 12 points and remain in contention for a playoff spot. The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side will next face Lucknow Super Giants in Lucknow on May 15.
