IPL Mega Auction 2025: Five Indian Players Who Might Go Unsold This Year

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega-auction is likely to be held on November 25 and 26 in Saudi Arabia. The IPL auction is being held overseas for the second-consecutive year. A total of 1,574 players (1,165 Indian and 409 overseas) have signed up for the mega auction. The list includes 320 capped players, 1,224 uncapped players, and 30 players from Associate Nations, an official IPL release confirmed. However a number of Indian players are likely to go unsold.

Prithvi Shaw, who played for Delhi Capitals last season with an ₹8 crore contract, is set to enter this year’s auction with a base price of ₹75 lakh.

Prithvi Shaw’s lack of consistency has led to a lower base price, and it's unlikely many will take a chance on him in the auction. There’s a strong possibility that the young cricketer could go unsold. However, he has impressed Ricky Ponting, and if Ponting decides to bid, Shaw might still secure a spot.

Amit Mishra is set to enter the auction once again. With 174 wickets in 162 IPL matches, he has left a strong impression. However, due to his advancing age, it’s unlikely that franchises will risk investing in him.

Manish Pandey, who has been a part of the IPL since its first season, could potentially go unsold this time. Despite his experience in 171 matches, his low strike rate and inconsistent performances make it unlikely that teams will bid for him in the auction.

Shardul Thakur has been unable to deliver strong performances in recent seasons. He has registered for this year’s auction with a base price of ₹2 crore, and due to this high price, there is a chance he may go unsold.

The same issue applies to Umesh Yadav. The 37-year-old bowler has set a base price of ₹2 crore for the mega auction, which could be seen as too steep by franchise teams, potentially hurting his chances.

Krunal Pandya has also registered for the auction with a base price of ₹2 crore. Spending such an amount on him could turn out to be a risky deal for franchise teams.
