Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Rohit Sharma hailed MS Dhoni for his last ball heroics which resulted in Mumbai's 7th loss in the ongoing edition of IPL 2022.

The El Clasico boiled down to the last over with CSK needing 17 runs to win the game. Jaydev Unadkat bowling the final over conceded just 1 run in the first two balls.

However, MS Dhoni had other plans as he smashed 6,4,2,4 off the last 4 balls to hand CSK their second win of the season.

“In the end, it was a great fight from us. We were right in the game. After batting not so well, I thought the bowlers kept us in the game all through. But in the end, we all know how calming MS Dhoni can be and he took them home.”

“It’s hard to put a finger on that [top order problems]. If you lose three or a couple of wickets upfront, it’s always going to be tough. You’re always playing that catching [up] game,” Rohit said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

“But in the end, we got to a very reasonable target where we thought with the ball we could put them under pressure. I thought till the last over, we had them under pressure. But in the end, MS and Pretorius were quite calm and got them home. We want to back ourselves with the ball.”

After a disastrous start, Tilak Varma's 51 not out helped MI to reach a decent total of 155 for 7, but in the end it turned out to be not enough as CSK chased down the target of 156 in the final ball.

CSK captain Ravindra Jadeja was all praise for Dhoni and youngster Mukesh Choudhry who took 3 wickets in the power play.
