A low-scoring thriller between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants ended with Faf du Plessis' men securing an 18-run victory in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match on Sunday. However, instead of RCB's bowling heroics in the match, what became the central talking point was the clash between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir.

It was pacer Naveen Ul Haq who started the fight, an it escalated after Gambhir got involved in it. Now, the details of what was said during this altercation between the two Delhi born legends has come to light.

According to an eyewitness to the fight, the moment that everything started was when Kyle Mayers asked Virat Kohli why the RCB star was constantly abusing him and the team, and from there things started to turn ugly.

"You saw on TV that Mayers and Virat were walking side by side for a few metres post match. Mayers asked Kohli why was he constantly abusing them and Virat, in turn, questioned why was he (Mayers) 'staring' at him? Before that (Amit) Mishra had complained to umpire about Virat constantly abusing Naveen (ul-Haq), who is a No. 10 batter," the eyewitness said to news agency PTI.

Seeing Mayers and Kohli getting into an argument, Gautam Gambhir got involved as he pulled the West Indian aside. The eyewittness then reveals the exact words that Kohli and Gambhir said to each other during the heated altercation.

"Gautam, sensing that things could turn ugly, pulled Mayers and told him not to have a conversation, when Virat made a comment. The heated exchange that followed seemed a bit juvenile," he said.

"Gautam asked 'Kya bol raha hain bol'(What were you saying?) and Virat replied, 'Maine aapko kuch bola hi naahin, aap kyon ghus rahein ho' (Why are you coming in between when I haven't told you anything).

"Gautam responded, 'Tuney agar mere player ko bola hai, matlab tune meri family ko gaali diya hai. (You abused my player and that's like abusing my family) and Virat's reply was, 'Toh aap apne family ko sambhal ke rakhiye'. (Then you take care of your family).

"Gambhir's final reply before they were separated was, 'Toh ab tu mujhe sikhayega...' (So now I have to learn from you...)."

After the spat, both Gambhir and Kohli were slapped with a fine worth 100% of their match fees.

Even RCB pacer Mohammed Siraj didn't look happy with Naveen and it was quite evident from his expression. After the game, Naveen and Virat also exchanged an awkward handshake in which the Afghanistan pacer looked miffed with the RCB batter. A few moments later, LSG skipper KL Rahul also seemed to have tried to calm things down between the two. In another video, Naveen seemed to have refused to talk to Kohli, even as his skipper Rahul insisted.
