Over the past couple of days a number of celebrities in their bid to spread awarness about coronavirus have been taking up the safe hands challenge on social media. Producer Ekta Kapoor also took up the challenge  and posted a video wherein she can be seen cleaning her hands. In her video, Ekta joked that due to the bracelets and rings she wears it might just take her a little more than twenty seconds, which is all that the challenge is about. In her caption, she wrote, "p.s due my ring bracelet filled hands it takes me a whole minute plus an additional layer of sanitizer! n don’t mind d hair it’s my quarantine look."

What caught the attention netizens was she did not remove her bracelets and rings. Most of them said her handwash challenge was a fail and mentioned that she should have taken off her jewellery which could be infected. One of the users wrote, "There is no point to wear so much of jewellery...your jewellery will still carry lot of micro infecting agents." To this Ekta replied, "Checked with dr! Sanitised as per instructions! Also I wear gloves outside (if I step out)! I have a 13 month old son so I've done d drill as per protocol! :) thanks for ur concern."Earlier, Ekta had announced that all the production and administrative work in her production house has been stalled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
