The Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Andheri granted a bail to actress Kangana Ranaut in a defamation case against her, filed by Javed Akhtar. Earlier, Kangana had moved court after a bailable warrant against her was issued by the court. According to latest reports, the ‘Thalaivi’ actress, who recently celebrated her birthday, was granted bail upon furnishing a surety of Rs 15000 and a cash surety of Rs 20000. Previously, she was asked to appear in court on March 1, 2021, in connection to the case.

In November 2020, the noted lyricist had filed a complaint against Kangana, post which the actress was asked to appear before the Andheri metropolitan magistrate. He had alleged that the actress had made defamatory comments against him in television interviews. According to PTI, he had accused her of dragging his name while referring to a "coterie" existing in the industry, in TV interviews after the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput in June 2020. The complaint also mentioned that Kangana had falsely claimed that Akhtar had threatened her to maintain silence about her alleged relationship with actor Hrithik Roshan.
